- 3 weeks
- Outcome
- Configurator feature for better product search

The Challenge
The Problem: The Motion Industries website offered a vast catalog of industrial parts, but even with robust search and filtering, customers struggled to find the exact part they needed. This led to a frustrating and overwhelming user experience.
- Result: A difficult and time-consuming search process, hindering customer efficiency.
- Core Issue: There was no guided experience to help users navigate a multi-tiered selection process for specific parts.

My Role
I served as the UX and visual designer, responsible for the end-to-end design of a new product configurator feature.
- My Contribution: I translated business requirements and design references into a user-friendly, multi-step experience with a focus on clear feedback and intuitive interaction design.

The Process
My approach was to create a simple, guided journey through a complex product hierarchy.
- Requirements & Research: I began with client requirements and research into alternative configurator experiences to identify best practices.
- Interaction Design: I prioritized clear visual cues and feedback mechanisms to guide the user. This included designing a simple progress indicator to live at the top of the screen, providing constant reassurance that the user was moving closer to their goal.
- Iterative Design: I worked within an existing design system and a tight timeline, creating designs for a responsive experience that would work seamlessly on various devices.

The Solution
I designed a multi-step configurator feature that simplified a complex product search into a guided process. The solution clearly indicated required selections and showed users their progress, transforming an overwhelming task into a manageable one.

The Impact
The product configurator was an immediate success.
- The Result: The Motion Industries team was so pleased with its performance and user feedback that they began to explore applying a similar guided-experience strategy to other areas of the site, validating the success of the design approach.
